Northgate Minerals Initiates Drill Program at Nevada Exploration Inc.’s Awakening Gold Project

June 23, 2011

Nevada Exploration Inc. (“NGE”) (TSX-V:NGE) is pleased to announce that Northgate Minerals Corporation ("Northgate") (TSX: NGX, NYSE-Amex: NXG) has mobilized a diamond drill rig to the Awakening Gold Project (the “Project”) to begin its 2011 drilling program. Northgate expects that the 2011 drill program will include 3,000 metres of diamond drilling, that the program will last from four to six weeks, and that the results will available for release in the fall.

The geologic target is a low sulphidation gold and silver deposit hosted by quartz-adularia veins in Tertiary volcanic rocks. The Project is located 50 km northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada, covering the northwest portion of the historic Awakening mining district and adjoining the north end of the former producing Sleeper Gold Mine, which produced 1.7 million ounces of gold and 2.3 million ounces of silver. The Project consists of 432 NGE claims (35.9km2) being advanced by Northgate under an Exploration and Option to Joint Venture Agreement, and 15 claims (1.2km2) under lease from DIR Exploration Inc. (the “Shine Claims”) being advanced by NGE.

Discussing Northgate’s 2011 drilling program, Wade Hodges, NGE’s President & CEO: “The Awakening Project represents an important new pediment project in Nevada, and NGE and Northgate have worked together to advance this covered bedrock target using complimentary geophysics and geochemistry techniques, including NGE’s proprietary hydrogeochemistry technology. Northgate’s 2011 drilling program represents the first time that we will be able to examine the bedrock across much of the Project and we are very excited to see the results.”

Nevada Exploration Inc.

NGE is an exploration company focused on gold in Nevada. NGE is led by an experienced management team that has been involved with the discovery of more than 30 million ounces of gold in Nevada.

NGE is aggressively applying the latest in “blind deposit” exploration technology to identify, acquire, and advance new exploration properties in Nevada’s highly prospective, yet underexplored covered basins. Specifically, NGE has developed proprietary hydrogeochemistry (groundwater chemistry) exploration technology to explore for gold in Nevada’s covered basins where traditional exploration techniques are challenged.

Using its industry leading exploration technology, NGE has assembled a portfolio of nine new gold projects, and with over 20,000 hectares (75 sq mi), is evolving as a major player in this world class jurisdiction. NGE’s business model is to leverage its properties and technology to create shareholder value through generative exploration, joint ventures, and other exploration partnerships.
